A Memorial Evening “Six Million Hearts”

On January 27, 2014 at Kyiv’s House of Actors (Yaroslaviv Val, 7) a memorial evening entitled “Six Million Hearts” was held. This event was dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The evening was opened by the President of Jewish Forum of Ukraine, Arkady Monastyrsky who spoke about the tragedy of the Holocaust in Ukraine and throughout the world.
Speeches were given by representatives of the embassies of foreign states— Israel, Germany, Azerbaijan, Hungary, the USA, Austria and Romania.
The members of Ukrainian Parliament, heads of departments, religious and civic leaders told about the tragedy of Jewish people and memory of the victims of the Holocaust . Today it is necessary to fight against anti-semitism and xenophobia whole over the world.
In memory of the six million Jews who perished during the years of war, the Chief Rabbi of the Association of Traditional Judaism in Ukraine had read a memorial prayer.
After the formalities of the evening a literary — musical composition was presented entitled “Six Million Hearts”. This was performed by laureates of international and national competitions Margarite Levytsky and the well known Kyiv-based string quartet “Art-Genesis”.
