On August 23, 2017, an exhibition "With Love to Ukraine" was opened to the Independence Day of Ukraine in the exhibition hall of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Babyn Yar" (Melnikova Str., 44). The exhibition will be open until September 10.
The exhibition presents artistic products of arts and crafts of Kyiv region. The exhibition presents about 100 works of amateur masters.
The purpose of the exhibition is to show the creativity of the masters united by the love of the Motherland.
The technique of performing works presented at the exhibition is the most diverse, which fully reproduces the peculiarities of the contemporary art of the Kyiv region: application, glass painting, art embroidery, paintings of satin ribbons (Kanzashi technique). The themes of the work are comprehensive: traditional Ukrainian symbols, genre paintings, symbolic-mystical compositions, embroidered towels and Ukrainian national women's clothing.
Quite extensively, the exhibition presents a collection of the ancient Ukrainian talismans - motanka - the special dolls, which were made to fulfil the cherished desires and protect the home from evil forces.
These dolls are not for play with. Our ancestors considered motanka a symbol of feminine wisdom, a happy fate, a wealth in the home.
