HONORING THE MEMORY OF GLAGOLEVS THE RIGHTEOUS

On the Day of Remembrance of Ukrainians who rescued Jews during World War II,

on May 14, 2021, employees of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Babyn Yar" Borys Glazunov, Andrii Tkachuk, Volodymyr Korneliuk, Mykhailo Gutor, David Chubinashvili and Serhii Zolotoverkhyi honoured the memory of the righteous Glagolevs: Oleksii Oleksandrovych (Fr. Oleksii), Maria Oleksiyivna, Mykola Oleksiyovych - in the Orthodox Church in honour of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow". Funeral service for the Righteous, as well as for the father of Fr. Oleksii - Archpriest Oleksandr Glagolev was officiated by Father Andriy.

During the German occupation of Kyiv (1941-1943), the priest of the Kyiv-Podilsky Church, Oleksiy Oleksandrovych Glagolev, and his wife, Tetyana Pavlivna, with their daughters, Magdalena, Maria, and son Mykola, helped many Jews to escape death.

In 1992, Glagolev was awarded the titles of "Righteous of Babyn Yar" and "Righteous Among the Nations" for saving Jews at the risk of his life.
