On September 28, 2021, Acting Director-General of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Babyn Yar" Roza Tapanova and Deputy Director-General of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Babyn Yar" for scientific work Andriy Tkachuk took part in a scientific Roundtable on "Role of the Orthodox clergy and believers in saving the Jewish population from the Holocaust during World War II. "The Roundtable was organized on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy by the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, the Center for the Study of the Heritage of New Martyrs and Confessors of the 20th Century.The event took place in the premises of the Church Archaeological Museum of the Kyiv Theological Academy. The Roundtable was broadcast live on the official website of the Information Center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Facebook. Welcoming the participants of the Roundtable, Roza Tapanova, stressed the importance of studying the role and participation of Orthodox clergy and believers in saving the Jewish population from the Holocaust during World War II. Andriy Tkachuk delivered a report on the topic "Babyn Yar. A tragedy that humanity will remember forever." In particular, the speaker stressed the need for research to discover new and little-known evidence of Orthodox priests and believers who saved people and died during the Nazi occupation of Ukraine. Andriy Tkachuk also spoke about the events in honour of the memory of priests shot by the Nazis, which are held by employees of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Babyn Yar". The event was covered by leading Ukrainian TV channels.
